See Why 150k People Follow @fitamysuzanne Fitness Pro, Mamacita & All Around Bad A$$ Chicka...
Ever had someone tell you; you’ll never have that body again after 30? I just hit 30 so that’s a daily scare. Or you can’t get fit again after babies. Or doing what you love is just for sissy millennial dreamers. Ya we’ve all heard a version or two of that negative “you can’t” talk. The cool part is when you find humans that HAVE done all the above. That is Amy Suzanne of @fitamysuzanne. Amy was just like you and I four years ago. She’d just had her first kid, was married, watching tv each night after her long shifts as a nurse and feeling like her body wasn’t really hers anymore. She wasn’t entirely out of shape or unsuccessful, she was just as she would say, average. Then one day it all changed.
Now Amy has oh just a few hundred.. thousand, followers on IG, is a sponsored fitness athlete and ambassador, shoots off to photoshoots and competitions around the country, and instead of being on antidepressants is dominating it in the gym. This little blonde gorgeous mother of two, lifts more than linebackers I know, and does it with her signature joie de vivre and a few tattoos to boot. We talk about everything from the action that led her to change her life, what she uses to track her progress, the goals she visualizes to achieve her why, how she gets in a bikini on stage (gasp!), why she posts before and after selfies, and the one piece of advice she wishes everyone would take to heart if they want to change their life for the better.
Some of my favorite quotes from Amy:
You, or me, we are the only people that are capable of changing our own lives. No one can change your life for you. No one can choose your life path for you. If you want to change something in your life you literally have to do it yourself. That is going to be a daily choice, even an hourly choice and probably a minute to minute choice.
For with great risk comes great reward. Trust your heart. Embrace change. Don't live a life in fear of it. And especially, don't live your life in fear of fitting in.
Experience has taught me perspective. Even if in the moment you are struggling recognize that you are learning, your body is learning, and with each level of experience your mental strength grows.
(On Growing your brand). People are really inspired by people who are making a big change. It shows them they might be able to make that change as well. So show your journey, authentically.
I don’t have a five-year plan. I never have. I just continue to do things that I feel are fun, cool and interesting. Isn’t that great?
